What the app already does

These features are in the current test version. The app is still being fine-tuned.

  • Classic chess, following the rules described on this site: castling, en passant, promotion to the piece of your choice, checkmate, stalemate and draws.
  • Two players on the same device, with the board turning around.
  • Against the computer, at 8 levels, as White, as Black or at random; it calculates on the device, with no connection.
  • Challenge a friend remotely, move by move, by QR code, link or code, with no server; or live on the same Wi-Fi.
  • Games saved after every move, PGN export and import, FEN position import.
  • Comfort: light or dark theme, reduced motion, portrait and landscape, phone and tablet.
  • No account: nothing to create, no email address asked for.

Real screenshots from the test version: a checkmate, the promotion choice, sharing a move by QR code and a game in dark theme.

Game ended by scholar's mate: the white queen, right next to the black king, checks it, marked in red; below the board, "Checkmate" and the list of moves.
Check and checkmate
"Promotion" sheet open above the game: queen, rook, bishop and knight offered to choose from.
Promotion
"Share the game" sheet open over the game: a large QR code to scan, then the code and buttons to copy the link, the code, the PGN or the FEN.
Remote challenge
Famous game imported, shown in dark theme: beige and brown board on an almost black background, list of moves at the bottom.
